"The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles”

Carl Marx's plan for communism had many good ideas and for the working class it looks pretty good, but it has many faults. In that regard so does the capital ecomonomy of the U.S. that we see today. For anyone to hear the ideas of Karl Marx and Communism and atomatically say EVIL, is complete foolishness, but its what many people have been doing for many years. Whether you want to admit it or not the rich run our country, in a Karl Marx society this could not happen because there is no class system. I feel that if humans started with the ideas of Karl Marx first and didn't develop a class system, I think Communism could have very easily worked. But because humans seem to have discrimination ingraved in them, it seems bound to fail. When you read Marx you feel like it really could work, and i think it could, but it just has such a small chance. I think in the end it is peoples fault that a system that could be so much better then capitalism can't work. Its not the system itselfs' fault, its the people and the mindset of the people who are going against and even the people who are trying for its success' fault.

Interesting comments Holden. One example to add to what you've written. When Engels and Marx were asked for examples of what society would look like when "the dictatorship of the proletariat" withered away they repeatedly referenced the Iroquois Confederacy. I would also point to some of the syndicalist experiments in the 20th century and currently in South America.
